Metal Painting

Metal Painting for Railings, Gates and Wrought Iron

Salt air corrodes exterior metal across coastal Palm Beach County. We strip the rust back, prime it properly and spray a finish built for the exposure, on railings, fences, gates, doors and metal buildings.

What we paint

Metal painting answers one question: can you paint this thing? Usually the answer is yes. Railings, fences, gates, bollards, lockers, metal doors and frames, light poles, stair stringers, site furniture and metal building panels all fall here. The method is chosen per item. Where a charged spray will wrap the profile and cut overspray, we use electrostatic painting.

Wrought iron in a salt air climate

Wrought iron fencing, gates and balcony railings are everywhere along the coast, and salt air works into every joint and weld. A fresh coat over rust fails fast. Durable work starts with removing loose rust and scale, treating what remains, and priming bare metal before the topcoat. Spraying rather than brushing gets paint into scrollwork and the inside faces of pickets.

Recent work posted on Instagram includes a restored set of outdoor basketball posts, a wrought iron chair refinished in place, and interior and exterior metal staircases. See them on the gallery page.

Common questions

Can you paint over rust?

Loose rust is removed first. Remaining tight rust is treated and primed. Painting straight over loose rust is the most common reason metal paint fails early.

Do you paint aluminum and galvanized metal?

Yes, with a primer made for non-ferrous and galvanized surfaces so the topcoat bonds.

How long does a repaint on coastal metal last?

It depends on exposure, prep and coating. Proper prep and a coastal-grade system last far longer than a quick recoat. The scope states the system we will use.

Do you paint metal buildings?

Yes. Metal building walls and roofs are cleaned, treated and sprayed. Larger industrial scopes are confirmed case by case.
